language as a model for graphic design - personification/anthropomorphism

| |
Personification (per-son-uh-fuh-cay´-shun) is a figure of speech in which a thing or abstraction is represented as a person, such as love being represented by Cupid. However, sometimes it is said to mean just the reverse — a figure of speech in which human qualities are attributed to an animal, object, or idea. This is also known as anthropomorphism (an-thro-po-morf´-izm). The White Rabbit from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland demonstrates this concept.
